Bruit v. bruits
A bruit is an abnormal heart sound or murmur heard on auscultation.
The plural form is bruits.
Because of the French origin of the word, the singular and plural forms of the word often sound the same because the final "s" is not pronounced; i.e., broo-ee.
D: There were (s/l) broo-ee heard throughout.
T: There were bruits heard throughout.
D: There is a soft (s/l) broo-ee.
T: There is a soft bruit.
